I have been approached by some heavy weight speakers keen to address the WAA Scotland group.
One potential speaker is a Scot overseas with a major corporate, with a fascinating web analytics best practice tale to tell.
I am planning to organise an online session for him to address us, most probably in July. His presentation will last about 30 minutes and if there is interest, I will get another speaker from a similar in Scotland to present too. It looks likely, however, that to suit the overseas speaker, the time will be 11.30am UK time.
If this is really not suitable, or you have any strong feelings on the format the sessioon should take (I was thinking 1 hour maximum), please let me know.
Thanks,
Vicky

Four Gurus Session From Emetrics
I hope that everyone that dialled into the Four Gurus Session from San Francisco found it useful - it was great to see your questions come in and I'm glad Jim Sterne was able to get at least questions from the Scotland group under the guru's noses!
A recording will be available shortly on the WAA site.
There is also a short video snippet here on the Belgium group blog: http://webanalytics.wordpress.com/2007/05/13/for-gurus-for-you-an-experiment-waa-is-in-the-testing-industry/#more-242
Pretty lively for 6am I think. Many thanks to Rene in Belgium, Giovanni in Italy, Lars in Sweden and the WAA and Emtrics team for helping make this happen!

9th May WAA Scotland Session to be online link up
Details are just being confirmed now for the 9th May WAA Scotland session, which will take the form of an online link up with International WAA members worldwide.
We anticipate a really impressive collection of speakers - I will update you when the programme is confirmed.
Due to timing requirements of speakers and worldwide participants, this session looks like it will take place at 3pm rather than the usual 6pm (hey, at least you didn't get the 7am or 11pm timeslot!).
More details will follow next week.
This session will be limited to WAA members, so if you haven't joined yet, you can get membership online with a credit card here: http://www.webanalyticsassociation.org/en/cms/?6

Just to remind you, a Web Analytics Wednesday is scheduled for this week
Venue: Apex House, Scottish Enterprise, Haymarket, Edinburgh, Scotland
Time: 6pm to 7.30pm followed by drink at local pub
The session will include:
I'm increasingly aware that membership is very geographically spread, from the Highlands and Moray to the Borders, as well as Glasgow and Edinburgh and its a challenge to find a location that suits everyone. One option is to make at least some of these future events online only. If you have any thoughts on this, including whether online would work better for you (and if so whether evening or day time would be best) - do let me know.
Finally, I have had several enquiries about WAA membership. If you are not currently a member but are interested in joining, membership details can be found here: http://www.webanalyticsassociation.org/en/cms/?6 I will also bring some information packs on Wednesday.
Time: 6pm to 7.30pm followed by drink at local pub
The session will include:
- Informal question and answer session
- Web analytics podcast from leading industry practitioner
- News about an official Web Analytics Association training day

Google talk web analytics to Scotland's marketing industry
The web analytics group in Scotland have for sometime been discussing ways to help our marketing industry colleagues wake up to the value of our services. The Drum magazine feature earlier this year was a start and I know members are all making individual efforts to plug away at this key market.
So it was great to hear Mads Moller of Google presenting at the Marketing Society conference in Edinburgh on Friday. He introduced not just Google Analytics, but basic level concepts of the cycle of measurement, insight and refinement that online marketing offers. He didn't talk about the new multivariate testing tool - this was a basic introduction after all - but he certainly conveyed the possiblities of using analytics data to drive a highly accelerated testing and improvement programme. With most of the great, good and aspiring of Scotland's marketing industry in attendance, it was a plug that we should capitalise on!
Mads - consider yourself invited to the WAA Scotland group anytime you're in town. The dates are below!

Web Analytics Wednesdays for 2007
Things have been a little quiet on the Web Analytics Scotland front in the last few months.
Personally, I have been away a lot, including spending some time at the Emetrics Summit (read summit report here) and WAA training in Washington DC and I realize it has been a very busy time for everyone.
However, I was hoping we could get some re-invigorated WAA Scotland activity underway in the New Year.
Unless anyone has a strong preference for meeting monthly, I suggest we meet bi-monthly, at a venue in Edinburgh as before. (Please advise if you have other preferences - for example, online meetings between the face to face sessions).
Proposed Web Analytics Wednesday dates for the New Year 2007 are:
Wednesday 10th January
Wednesday 14th March
Wednesday 9th May
Venue: Apex House, Scottish Enterprise, Haymarket, Edinburgh, Scotland.
Time: 6pm to 7.30pm followed by drink at local pub.
I would be very happy to hear from anyone who may like to get involved with helping organising and promoting activities in the coming year, or has specific ideas for sessions they would like to see. Please contact me on: vicky@highlandbusinessresearch.com
You may also be interested to know that there are plans to make an intensive WAA web analytics training day, similar to that delivered in Washington DC last month, available to European WAA members - possibly in an online format. I will update you when I know more about this.
